During this project we studied projectile motion and the mathematics behind it. We then used these skill to build a functioning water rocket that we tested and then entered into a contest, where the highest flying rocket won. Our rocket flew a total of 367ft, breaking the school record, which we had set before, but it was disqualified because the cap failed to come off and our parachute didn't deploy.
In this project we studied sound waves and their relation to humans. As a final project for this unit we studied the Doppler Effect and Sonic Booms.
Light Waves
In this unit we studied light waves and how they are perceived by humans. My group members and I learned about Pepper's Ghost and created a "hologram" that wasn't actually a hologram. Instead it was a reflection of light being captured by a plexiglass screen. It gave the effect of a hologram, looking like a floating flower or moving ocean.
Refraction Video
This video is about refraction, we took this idea and made it a murder mystery video. Refraction is when light hits a transparent object and bends through it, first towards the normal and then away.
What is Science Video
During this unit we learned about different aspects of science. We learned about the scientific method and how scientists go about getting data. For this unit I created the video below, it is about how scientists learn about jellyfish and dinosaurs!
