Shea Davis at Animas High School

The Animas Way

Animas High School is far different from most schools I have been to in the past. People here are very kind and really try and connect to others in the school. I can really see how what we learn connects to the real world, and this helps us to engage and connect to what we learn. Our teachers also try and build good relationships with us which makes us trust them more. All in all, Animas is an impactful school.

Why I decided to become an Osprey

When I was looking for a high school, I was looking for a community and a place where I could learn about the world. I chose Animas because of the small school style and the project based learning model. Before Animas I went to Mountain Middle School which has a similar learning model, so Animas appealed to me. I love to build and create, and I like to have a small community where I know everyone. Animas matched this and that solidified my decision. Having a small school means more connection and opportunity to grow. It allows me to know most everyone in the school and helps me to connect with my teachers. This is amazing for mental health. Animas encourages student teacher relationships, and I believe that this helps students learn because the students can trust the teachers more. Having more trust means more openness and transparency. This means that it is easier for students to ask teachers for help, in school and out. I love to ask questions, so this style is enormously helpful to me. I believe that Animas High School was the best choice for me.
